Heating and Savings Calculator

Working out the size you need and your savings

You use the Süka Heating Calculator below (requires Flash 8) to calculate the size of heaters you might need. Also it can calculate how much you might save over storage heaters. Alternatively you can calculate your heating requirements manually using the information below.

To work out the size of radiator, in kilowatts (kw), needed to heat each room, use the formula:

number of kw = volume of room x 0.04

For example for a room 3m x 4m x 2.5m high (no. of kw = 3 x 4 x 2.5 x 0.04 = 1.2)

(If a room has a north facing outer wall then increase the result by 25%)

Suka radiators will run economically when correctly sized and used. If they are under sized they will work harder to produce the necessary heat and therefore NOT run as economically.

Note that certain Suka radiators – such as 0.8kw, 1.6kw, 2.0kw and 2.5kw – are available in up to 4 different sizes to take into consideration rooms with very high ceilings. Your furnishing and wall space available for installation should be considered when you choose a specific heater size within the above range.

For large rooms such as Community Halls, Chapels, etc with higher ceilings, 2.5kw is adequate when considering heating the occupied zone. If in doubt, contact us for assistance.
